Club Rules
Saugahatchee Hunting Club Rules
1. State of Alabama Hunting Laws and any additional rules of the club must be followed or you may forfeit your membership and dues for the year.
a. the law now reads hunting hours are 30 min before sunrise to 30 min after sunset - (should be no reason for it to be too dark to have been able to tell what it was!)
b. Deer Season runs until 10 Feb
c. ALL deer (Does & bucks) must be recorded on your harvest record before moving it. You also must report each deer to GAME CHECK within 48 hours. A 'Transfer of Possession' form must accompany any deer you give to another person, processor, or taxidermist.
d. No baiting allowed on club property during deer or turkey season. Bait may be used other times of year to hunt hogs if the hunter obtains the proper hunting license to do so. All bait such as corn must be removed 10 days prior to the opening of bow deer season and remain as such until after the close of Turkey season at the end of April.
2. Every hunter must wear hunter orange while on the ground during any deer gun hunting season.
3. Any rules violation go to the three (3) member board, and if necessary to the club members.
4. Pin out board is for ALL HUNTERS. No one may pin out before 4:30 A.M.
5. When a hunter is finished for the day, he or she MUST return to the clubhouse and remove his or her pin from the pin out board. NO OTHER PERSON MAY REMOVE YOUR PIN. THIS IS FOR SAFETY REASONS.
6. No FIREARMS may be discharged at the clubhouse area.
7. Do not block access to the skinning rack, cooler or pin out board with ATV’s.
8. Guest fee is $30.00 per day to hunt, (Deer or Turkey).
(A) $30 is for any day or part of a day (No reduced fees for half day hunts)
(B) Money must be collected before the guest hunts.
(C) No guest may hunt more than a total of 3 days during deer season (includes bow, muzzleloader, and rifle seasons together ) and 3 days during turkey season.
(D) Guest must hunt in the same general area as the club member
(E) No guests allowed after Dec 31st for deer season
(F) Only one guest per member per day (If a guest goes with a member to observe, the guest fee must still be paid) EXCEPTION: kids may go with a member with no guest fee (below age 16)
9. If state law does not indicate a rack size or weight limit, the club will allow a variance from our club rules for a child’s first deer. This pertains to a child 15 years and younger, the weight and rack size will not apply. But every deer after that will be subject to the club rules. To give that child a chance to enjoy the thrill of hunting, giving that child every opportunity to have their first kill.
10. Buck deer must have 4 points (Not counting brow tines). To be considered a point, a tine must measure at least one inch. Fine for a buck not meeting this requirement is $50, payable within 3 weeks.
11. A member who kills any deer that weighs less than 60 pounds will be fined $50.00 (this includes button bucks under this weight).
12. Members and guests should not kill button bucks, but if this happens they will not be fined IF the antler is not above the natural hairline and weighs over 60 pounds. All fines must be paid within three (3) weeks of the date owed.
13. All membership dues of $1000.00 are due 1 May and overdue June 1st as the first lease payment is due in June, so please pay as soon as possible. Also, please include any camper fees with your dues.
14. The club will have organized workdays. Members must participate in 3 full work days or pay the fine.
(A) The fine for missed workdays is $100 per day (3 missed days = $300)
(B) Workdays will begin at 7:30 am and will include 8 hours of work (Any less is a missed day unless the club officer in-charge shortens the workday).
(C)The Plant Day is a mandatory workday and represents one of the 3 mandatory days. ALL members are expected to be there. (It is a missed workday even if you worked 3 or more days already).
(D) Any one who has a valid excuse for a missed day needs to contact a club officer to set-up other arrangements to make up the missed day.
(E) All fines must be paid within three (3) weeks of the date owed
15. ATV’s will not be allowed on green fields.
16. Only a member’s son, daughter, spouse or significant other may hunt under a member’s membership. After a child is out of high school or over the age of 18 he must become a paying member.
17. You may not dispose of any deer remains in any creek or stream. Guts are to be disposed of in the gut well and not the woods. All members who do not know where to dispose of guts will be shown.
18. Do not dispose of any paper, bottles or cans on the hunting land or in clubhouse. If you take it to the woods or shooting house make sure and bring it back with you and dispose of it properly.
19. Make sure you are aware of the paper company lease agreement.
20. Any grievances should be brought to the attention of the club officers and if the disagreement is still viable at the officer level it will be brought to the attention of the membership for final ruling.
21 There are limited spaces for camper hookups. If you would like to put a camper at the club, a camper spot must first become available (Check with the club President before bringing a camper out).
22. Anyone with a camper will pay a fee to help offset the club's cost for electricity during hunting season (1 Oct - 15 Feb). Power will be turned off on 15 Feb and remain off until 1 Oct. (Exception: clubhouse lights breaker will be left on and the pump breaker will be turned on once freezing weather has passed. DO NOT leave the pump switch on if you leave the club). Anyone who uses power during the offseason should expect to pay the amount of the bill above the $35 minimum monthly power company expense.
(A) Camper Fees vary based on estimated usage: Weekend hunters pay $125, those hunting 3-4 days pay $200 and those 5 days or more pay $250

- the fee will be adjusted up or down depending on power bills for Sep - Feb of the previous year
- turn lights, TVs, heaters, etc. off when not in use
